Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wanda Dunham Consulting, LLC which provides management consulting services, and currently serves as an adjunct instructor at Rutgers University, NJ; recently retired from the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) after a notable career in Law Enforcement and Transportation spanning over 30+ years; 14 of those years serving as the Assistant General Manager/Chief of Police and Emergency Management.
In 2006, Chief Dunham made history as the first African American and the first female in the Department’s history to hold the position of Chief. In leading the nation’s 9th largest transit agency’s police department, Chief Dunham was responsible for a 947 square mile service area to include Clayton, Dekalb, and Fulton Counties. She led a 400+ member police department that provided security for multiple facilities, stations, buses, mobility, and, most recently, light rail throughout the service area.
The Department has been a CALEA Nationally Accredited Agency since 1996 and received Flagship, Gold Standard, and Meritorious Service awards under her tenure. Chief Dunham amassed numerous leadership excellence, diversity, and community service awards throughout her career and became a published author after releasing her first book entitled: “Becoming Chief: Life Lessons Learned on The Road Less Traveled .”
